those documents are handled in the most secure manner, as well
as what is best for the environment. The 5/16” shredded
material is not only secure, but bales easily so that the
material may be sold to a paper recycler and actually becomes
paper all over again. Although confetti cut shredding is best
for maximum confidentiality, it is not environmentally
friendly, because most of that material falls away from the
bale and ends up in the trash. Co-mingling of materials in
each bale adds an extra level of security.
Any cardboard refuse is also baled and moved back into the
recycle stream when you use Peak Community Services, Inc. for
your document destruction. File folders and other cardboard
document holders are baled with the cardboard. Paper clips are
salvaged and sold to a metal scrap yard. Miscellaneous
materials such as magazines and plastics are given to a
recycler for proper disposal.
